Fracture Injuries In Motorcycle Accidents
It is very easy to fracture a bone in a motorcycle accident. The most common fractures are:
- Wrist
- Fingers
- Collar bone
- Ribs
- Ankle
Even though the fracture may heal, a permanent injury can result. With ankle fractures, pins, screws, and plates may be used to fix the fracture. A person may find they can’t stand on his/her feet at work and loses their job. Just because a fracture heals that does not mean there has not been a permanent impairment, which the injured person must be compensated for. The injured motorcyclist should recover the past lost wages to the date of settlement and future lost wages. This is known as reduced earning capacity. The lawyer may hire an economist to determine the amount of future lost wages.
