One Special Ride in WA

A few summers ago, I rode from Spokane, WA to Custard State Park and on to Yellowstone. It was a solo trip. Clear the mind.

In Yellowstone, I come around a corner and the cars ahead of me are stopped. The cars in the other lane are stopped. The cars behind me stop. I am stuck in that one spot on the road. I think people are stopped to watch a moose or some other animal. My bike is running and the pipes aren't quiet.

I look in my mirror and walking down the road towards me is a full-grown male bison. One slow step at a time it keeps coming. It is walking between the two lanes of traffic. He was like a person talking a field sobriety test walking over the yellow line in the middle of the street.

He is fifty feet behind me. Should I shut my bike off and run behind a car? Should I do nothing? Just sit on my bike and not move?

The bison is ten times the size of my bike. The bison is now alongside my bike looking at me and I am looking at him. This is when it became interesting…
